Oflex – 50 (Polyamine Shale Inhibitor)

details-image

Oflex-50 - Polyamine shale inhibitor is a high-performance, cationic water-soluble polymer used in water-based drilling fluids (WBM) to control shale hydration, swelling, and dispersion. It enhances wellbore stability by forming a protective layer on clay surfaces and minimizing water intrusion.

Key Features:

  • Effectively prevents shale swelling and dispersion.
  • Improves wellbore stability and cuttings integrity.
  • Reduces bit balling and drilling issues.
  • Compatible with most WBM systems.

Typical Properties:

  • Appearance: Clear to pale yellow liquid
  • pH (1% solution): 7 – 10
  • Density: 1.00 – 1.10 g/cm³
  • Active Content: 30% – 60%
  • Solubility: Fully water-soluble
  • Amine value 200 to 500

Application:

  • Widely used in oil & gas drilling, especially in shale and clay-rich formations, including horizontal and directional drilling operations.

Dosage:

  • Recommended dosage ranges from 0.5% to 3.0% v/v, depending on formation conditions and mud system design.

Advantages:

  • Environmentally safer alternative to KCl systems
  • Low toxicity and biodegradable grades available
  • Cost-effective solution for drilling stability
  • Performs well under high-temperature conditions

Packaging & Storage:

  • Available in 50 kg / 200 kg HDPE drums and IBC tanks. Store in a cool, dry place. Shelf life: 12–24 months.
